About Quilts
Quilt Construction: The 3 Layers
Layer 1 is the top. This is the pattern that you pick and that incorporates your wedding colors.
Layer 2 is the batting. This is the middle that adds thickness and warmth to a blanket. You don’t see this layer in the finished product.
Layer 3 is the backing. This is one large piece of cloth, the side that touches your skin
These 3 layers are referred to as the “Quilt Sandwich”. The 3 layers are held together by stitches, called the quilting. The quilting (the stitches) can be a pattern as well.

Suspending the Quilt
Quilts made for chuppahs have loops at each corner to be held up by chuppah poles. A quilted chuppah is heavier than a tallis. I highly recommend that you use hand-held chuppah poles or a VERY sturdy and reinforced chuppah frame, so that the weight of the quilt doesn’t pull the frame in/down.
Washing Quilts
Quilts are usually washed minimally, one time a year. They must be washed on the delicate cycle and can be tumble dried on low, or laid flat to dry in the sun.
